Adiponectin (AdiopoQ or ACRP30) is a protein hormone involved in glucose regulation and fatty acid breakdown. It is also involved in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism and insulin sensitivity. Adiponectin is a biomarker for obesity-related diseases like Type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease with low levels being associated with these conditions.
